With the right instruction Pilates is beneficial to many special populations including pregnant & postpartum women as well as our aging population. Exercises are easily modifiable to meet the needs of each individual.

Pregnancy & Postpartum

Pilates offers many benefits for both pregnancy and postpartum recovery, helping to support the body through changes and aiding in the healing afterward. 

Pilates helps strengthen the core & pelvic floor, it improves balance, so as your center of gravity shifts as your belly grows you have more stability. It enhances joint mobility, circulation & improves oxygen flow. Pilates is safe and adaptable at all stages of pregnancy and post partum, exercises can be modified through each trimester. Pilates helps build stamina prior to delivering baby and an all around body awarness.

Aging Population

Pilates helps maintain physical and mental well-being as we grow older. There are many benefits to doing Pilates as we age including, it helps improve bone density especially on apparatus based Pilates such as  reformer Pilates & helping to prevent osteoporosis. Pilates helps us maintain good posture, better balance and it improves our mobility. There cognitive benefits that help with focus and work against a mental decline.
